tick tock summer.

So, this has been what my bed has looked like for the past 3 nights. lovely i know. if you look at it on an angle it almost looks dysfunctional organized. almost... but not to worry! studies show that while studying one should take a break somewhere around every 40 minutes. or when your minds begins to wander, but what if my mind begins to wander after 1 minute? I'm jk, I can focus for at least 3.

anyway, this was the brain food i decided to enjoy :)

frozen chocolate cool whip, chocolate syrup, green sprinkles :) yumm.

this is what i wore for the last day of school. i wanted to wear a dress but it was to cold out so i wore this instead. and now it's happy summer to me!! and also to you, unless it isn't your summer yet, in which case I'm sorry for you. hang in there, you can see the light! tanning, and eating, and sleeping oh my!

lost.

So i had taken photos of my outfit this morning in hopes of posting them sometime tonight, but was quite disappointed when i found that they hadn't saved to my camera. I'm so upset! I suppose I'll  settle for putting up a few street styles I intend to channel in the near future. :(

can you tell summer starts in 4 days?

bubble bath = fail.

I decided today after going to my little sister's softball game in the cold that i wanted to take a bubble bath, complete with bubbles, bath salts, quiet owl city in the background, and soothing smells candles. Well, that plan went up in flames when the water heater ran out of hot water. I suppose that makes sense since both our washing machines were one, my sister was taking a shower and i was trying to fill up my tub...oops? Anyway I contemplated boiling some water and adding that to my tub of luke-warm but decided instead to suck it up and take a cold bath. It was strangely relaxing. so take a minute and have a latte, light a candle, or take a cold bubble bath, it'll make you feel better i swear.

2 more days until the weekend! yay!!

illuminated mind and peanut butter.

i try to keep myself from being to repetitive in my inspiration. yes i have certain "looks" or "styles" that i gravitate toward but i also like to keep things fresh. for this reason i started my style board. its a little magnetic board that holds photos i cut from magazines. when i first started it i had a really hard time chopping the beautiful pictures right out of my beloved magazines, but over time i realized that i get those magazines in order to be inspired. clipping them out and putting them on my style board is exactly the reason i have them.

my thoughts for this particular board were engulfed in ideas of crystal waters, summer romances, fresh flowers, and feminine lace. essentially "getaway glam" and i want my summer to be filled with lush blues, polka dots & stripes , and OPI's Mermaid Tears nail polish. Oh and i wish i had mermadious length hair. maybe I'll try the peanut butter treatment?

I wonder if it even works, the treatment claims that if you massage 1-2 jars of peanut butter through your hair, sleep in it, wake up wash out 1/2 of it, go about your normal activities, wash and repeat twice a month for so many months that your hair will grow 5-10 inches. Now, i for one think that sounds amazing solely because i miss my long hair and find that i would definitely partake in this "treatment". side note: disregard the excessive use of quotation marks tonight, i simply haven't got a clue whats gotten into me.

anyway, here's the board!

almost there.

school and track are both ending for me in about 2 weeks. i can almost taste summer I'm so excited. i want nothing more then to lay out, be lazy, stop for ice cream for no reason, and dance all day every day. My best friend and i have many plans up our sleeves and i absolutely cannot wait! I'm hoping to get a new camera before the fun begins so i can have it all summer. does anyone know what the best brands are? What the best type is? I'm looking to get an SLR camera i think? i don't even really know what I'm talking about, i need a good camera for a reasonable price and isn't a little dinky digital. help me out?

outfit of the day which is irrelevant to the post.

P.S.

personal. style.

its actually quite daunting if you think about it to much. your personal style can reveal a lot about you. when someone meets you for the first time what do they notice? your personality and your style. and come on let's face it, we can't honestly expect everyone on planet earth to "get to know the real us" first, clothing paints a picture of who you are, it tells a story with a glance. when you see a "goth" at the mall, don't deny the fact that you make assumptions about them. (any goths out there, no harm done i respect you for your boldness and courageous style choices) But in all honesty typing this makes the realization grow stronger, others judge you on your clothes. Its involuntary, and it makes me wish i had 45 extra minutes in the morning devoted solely to deciding exactly how I'd like to represent myself to the world each day. because i don't know about you but I've defiantly had those days in which i thought i looked cute when i left the house and then decided i didn't like my choices anymore and wished i could go home and change. most nights i try to pre-plan what I'll try on in the morning so I'm not helplessly wasting my time just standing and staring into my closet.

i often find that people will find a celebrity, model, or icon that they base their outfits/style as a whole around, which is fine but at the same time i wonder is it not better to select pieces you like from many sources of inspiration? my mother once told me that i couldn't purchase a pair of Nike skate boarding shoes because "they weren't my style." and i thought well, if i like them doesn't that make them "my style"?

i think that everyone has their own taste and so what if they want to mold it into something different for awhile? so what if they like to dress in themes? if you want to go granny one day and preppy the next i won't stop you, but make sure your wearing it because you love it and you want to wear it, not because you saw so-and-so wearing it and so-and-so looked good so if i dress like so-and-so I'll be cool. nobody cares about being cool anymore anyway.

ah those shell earrings!!

i feel like these girls embraced their personal styles, although i can't know for sure it's almost like the vibe they give off simply works with the clothing that they chose. embrace that which you love!

mom, mother, momma, mommy, mom.

happy mothers day everyone! it's been a good day, i cant complain. I'm almost positive I've eaten more today then i did on Christmas ha. we had brunch on my mom's side with egg bake w/ peppers, onions, mushrooms, and ham, homemade waffles with homemade almond syrup, blueberry muffins, and some sort of pecan dessert dish. everything was so delicious and the time with family is always good. i didnt take any pictures today because i wasn't really home and of course forgot my camera. but here's a little something i wore last week. P.S. my wonderful mother picked out this top for me this past valentine's day.

gosh, i really am sorry, please disregard the strewn clothes and open closets everywhere, i apparently was in a rush.

mermadious.

there's something about these 3 pictures that i absolutely cannot help but love. it might be the mermaidious hair, or the over sized clothing, but I'm honestly obsessed.

something about her expression, it's like she knows something i don't and its just so intriguing!

bleh.

i don't feel to good today, i just made some hot chocolate and crawled into bed.
i had my dance team banquet tonight in which you are supposed to dress up, or you were in passed years anyway. well this year everyone wore jeans lol, i didn't. i wore some of the spoils of last weekends shopping trip. it was cold out today though so imagine this, with an added grey sweater that was perfect in that it warmed me up as well as dressed me down!

whoops! is that a tag? my bad.

prommy wommy.

Last night was prom and i am exhausted! It was so much fun and let me tell you, the food was delicious. as always, i did my own hair and make-up because i feel like I'm capable and it doesn't make me nervous like it does for most girls. most of the time i have a tiny melt down in the middle of curling or pinning but surprisingly i surpassed that issue this year!  i went into it knowing basically what i wanted to do and it was relatively simple. heres just some selfies from before pictures and coronation and such. lemme know what you think of my dress?!
