nerdy :]

Thursday: Nerd Dress Up Day

now, most of my friends (the ones who actually took part in the fun day and dressed up) went out and bought a few things for their nerd outfits, but i happened to have everything i needed at home to look the part. coincidence? i think not. as i mentioned quite a few times today, i would honestly wear everything i had on on a normal day minus the no lens glasses and the pocket watch tie.
i apparently resembled Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter movies quite extensively.  which i take as a compliment because 1. i love the Harry Potter movies and 2. I think Emma Watson is gorgeous so if you would like to compare me to her go right ahead.
i basically wanted to whip out a wand all day and scream expeliamus! to bad i haven't visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida yet, where you can go to Ollivander's and purchase your very own wand. (which i fully intend to do, because honestly I'm just that cool)

glasses.

 argyle socks.
 pocket watch tie.

wearing: forever 21 blouse; H&M sweater vest; forever 21 jeans; mystery oxfords; dad's pocket watch tie; mom's old Ralph Lauren glasses frames

sorry about the poor quality Hermione picture, it was the only one i could find. (an excuse to blur reality and pose myself to look like her? pshh. nooo. well, maybe a little. I'm also just to lazy to go find a bigger picture once i realized that the picture was minuscule. oh well, happy Thursday!

looking without seeing.

Fashion has to have a narrative. - Nigel Barker

it has to have a story, a plan, some type of inspiration to go off of.

when you look at a fashion spread what do you actually look at?
is it the odd combinations of clothing?
the intense make-up and hair?
the rail thin models and their expressions?
the wondrous scenery?

I feel like when your looking at a picture, you need to see it all. look for the small broaches and pearl earrings. everything the model has on was planned and analyzed, the photographer and stylists wanted it to look that way. the magazines use only the shots that are interesting and sometimes they are a little out there, but sometimes they are just plain, simple, to the point. fashion is meant to be looked at! its meant to be taken in, and cause inspiration. look at these photos and now what do you see?

the profile shot reflected in the mirror.
her bare feet and the lining of her skirt.
her gorgeous archs, that bow tie, the rails on the windows.
the draping of the skirt, her pout, the empty storage room.
the pattern of the dress, her loose curls, the misty woods.

the jacket collar, is she wearing tights?, the way her eye is just barely visible from behind the gate

her sunnies, her color scheme, the way her hair is brushed back with the wind

forest green and lovely red.

i want to be her for a day. the jacket, the bag, the sunnies, the HAIR! perfection.

tie dye and running in the rain.

it's prom week at school & everyday is a different dress up day, today was tie dye day! i love this because tie dye t-shirts are so comfy and bright! looking at everyone in the halls was quite funny, everyone so serious & sulky going to class in these fantastically crazy shirts.

wearing: homemade tie dye Hanes t-shirt; forever 21 jeans; target tie dye socks

After school i had track practice, it was pouring rain for a while & drizzling the rest of the time. we ran & stated how we felt as if we were in a Nike ad dripping with rain and sweat as we did a workout fit for an Olympian. though it was chilly out & my socks were soaked we had a fun practice with water dripping from our chins and noses.

no i will not run another 500 meter dash, thanks though.

pop the collar, pretend your cool.

style bored. style board!

today was a good day of sale shopping, panera, and inspiration rejuvenation. although i would venture to say i have quite a bit of clothes, around this time of the year i get a bit bored with the things in my closet. for this reason i found it necessary to find a few fresh new pieces to pull me from my style rut. this is what i wore shopping.

wearing: LC by Lauren Conrad blouse; forever 21 jeans; coach ballet flats

i just updated my style board, i realize it looks like i have a crazy obsession with Emma Watson but honestly, how could she not make the board?! her style is impeccable! along with her i love almost everything Alexa Chung wears and the card in the top right my parents gave me for my birthday. well, happy monday everyone!

x's and o's.

Happy Easter everyone! it was made clear to me this morning that this Easter would be very relaxed and quite casual. Upset as i was i found a way to feel dressed up even when i appeared not! Is anyone else missing the frilly dresses and Easter bonnets of our childhood!?

X and O bracelet; zebra bracelet

wearing: H&M dress; mystery oxfords; X and O bracelet, gold zebra bracelet; A necklace, keys and lock necklace

also, i got this chap stick from the "Easter Bunny" aka my mom, since i was with her when she asked me if i would like it. I'm kinda loving everything about it?! shape, smell, the way it moisturizes my lips exceptionally.

revisiting the past.

after a day of errand running and tidying, i got ready and went to an early Easter service at church with the family. and while deciding what to actually wear, i thought to myself, "what is an appropriately dressy outfit to wear to a church that is modern in such a way that jeans and fleece sweatshirts are a common outfit choice?" after much trial and error i came up with this ensemble. hoping that it portrayed a relaxed dressy look the lace on the skirt and the black tights and shoes were on the dressier side where as the striped top was a bit more casu.

wearing: forever 21 top; mystery skirt; black tights; A necklace

while at church i saw my old hairdresser whom i had to move on from since her prices were just to pricey. along with her was her son, whom i dated but eventually broke up with due to very conflicting schedules. it was nice to see him and his cute new haircut. and even if it was a little awkward i find myself wishing i could have small "blasts from the past" and revisit people I've grown apart, moved apart, or turned apart from.

oh and also, we went to my grandma's house after church for Easter eggs, lamb-shaped cake, and chocolate, my grandma informed me that she will soon be cleaning her closets and i am welcome to have her leftovers! yay! my grandma has good taste. :)

dreamer.

my friend and i decided to have a "sad horse movie marathon", while it didn't work out quite as planned when the first movie we watched starred a child Dakota Fanning in "Dreamer". we loved it. after that nothing compared. "Flicka" was sub-par and after that was over we didn't even have it in us to continue on to the other 46 some horse movies i scavenged up. we settled for an episode of "Kendra". heres a nighttime outfit to correspond with our lazy day and even lazier night.

....

im dying. flawlessly flawed.

treasure finding.

a few days ago as i went looking for a sweater in my moms closet i came across this beauty. although it wasn't my size i easily threw on a belt and revived it! when i actually went outside i had to layer on a sweater but it was a touch of plum color so it worked.

wearing: moms dress; mystery oxford shoes; black belt; gold chain bracelets

anyway, i have off of school for Easter so hopefully i can fit in a bit of shopping/thrifting around the family gatherings, dentist appointments, and midnight bowling with my friends. :)

Wednesday, April 20

a beam of light through the clouds.

as of late it has been oh so dreary and today i decided to bring a bit of spring into my wardrobe which has apparently decided to harmonize with the blue, black, and grey sky. i chose teal because i just love these shoes and i couldn't bare to expose my little toes to the harsh elements (aka a constant, harsh drizzle?). anyway, my initial hopes were spring-like undertones to bring about spring-like weather but, as the saying goes, april showers bring may flowers!

wearing: forever 21 blouse; forever 21 jeans; merona shoes; mom's necklace; homemade clip

also, i just received this candle as a present to welcome in a spring aroma. thought you'd like to see it.
